The Great Wall of China is one of the  Seven Wonders of the Modern World , besides being declared  a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1987.

How is the Great Wall of China

As if it were a gigantic dragon, the Great Wall winds up and down across deserts, grasslands, mountains and plateaus along approximately 8,851.8 kilometers from east to west of China. With a history of over 2000 years , some of the sections are now in ruins or have disappeared. However, it remains one of the most attractive and spectacular interest around the world due to its architectural grandeur and historical significance.

The great wall of ChinaMost of the Wall has come down to us was built during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).Part of Hushan and reaches Jiayuguan in the west, crossing before Liaoning, Hebei, Beijing, Tianjin, Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, Ningxia, Shaanxi, Gansu and Qinghai. Throughout all the way you can enjoy an incredible diversity of landscapes and places that allow us toknow a little better the great history of China.

It seems incredible that a work so huge was built many centuries ago. A construct was made using local resources as materials of construction, and that was handled with contracts and accountability system. As we can imagine, it took one huge army of manpower, composed of soldiers, prisoners and the same population. The result of the construction shows once again the wisdom and tenacity of the Chinese people.

The Great Wall is a fundamental part of Chinese culture. For many centuries it has been incorporated into Chinese mythology and symbolism. Numerous legends have starring the huge wall. One of the best – known account of the collapse of a section of the wall caused by jiangnu Meng, who was weeping bitterly over the death of her husband as he helped in the construction. It is an example of the many stories and legends that have spread through books, songs and traditional operas.

Being one of the great cultural and natural heritages in the world, the Great Wall of China belongs not only to the Chinese people but to all humanity, hence we all have a responsibility to protect. Hence it is so important that the millions of tourists who visit each year are careful not only with the huge wall, but also with the environment. The Chinese government makes great efforts to preserve and protect the Great Wall. These measures are necessary because different studies have shown that the action of man and nature itself is causing the gradual reduction of the extent of the wall, with the result thatonly 30% remains in good condition . Hence , it is necessary to take care as one of the great jewels of the planet.
