When Is the Best Time of Year to Begin Your Home Renovation Project?
Plan a renovation well
Starting your renovations at the right time can be key to maintaining some semblance of control over the process. So know how seasons can work to your advantage and use that knowledge to plan well ahead of time so you will spend less in the end.
Spring: The Sweet Spot
Most remodelling projects are designed to either kick off or end between March and May. Fair weather provides ideal conditions for outdoor projects, contractors are returning from their winter work hiatus and temperatures will not start to fall again until months later. And spring marks the beginning of property selling season, providing excellent opportunities for value adding renovations.
Summer: Outdoor Focus
The long days of June through August are fantastic for outdoor work such as roofing, extensions or garden makeovers. The more sunny days, the longer daylight hours and fewer delays. But in a busy season, the good contractors are going to be booked out for months at this time of year and material prices could have topped out.
Autumn: Interior Preparation
This is a good time for interior renovations, usually from September – November. You don’t have to pay summer price premiums, your contractors are probably less busy now and getting projects done before winter sets in means you’ll be warm all season. This is also perfect timing if you are going to sell next spring. For Home Renovations Charlton Kings, contact https://precisionbuildersltd.co.uk/services/home-renovations/charlton-kings
Winter: Indoor Only
The drawback to December through February is that you cannot coat outside but this time has significant benefits. You’ll pay less for contractors, you’ll have their undivided attention and your summer entertaining will not be sidelined by an indoor DIY project.
The Planning Rule
Start planning at least three months prior to when you begin. This gives you the time needed to obtain permits, hire contractors and order materials.
