What is Neighbourhood Watch?

Neighbourhood Watch is a scheme that most of us in the UK will be familiar with. It is a community-led initiative that brings local residents together to tackle crime and other safety concerns in the area where they live. Neighbourhood watch groups are often in contact with local authorities, police and other agencies to share information and news.

The idea originated in America and was introduced to the UK in 1980. It’s a simple concept – Working together will improve your community.

Neighbourhood watches can be very large and cover most of the houses on an estate or they may only involve a few homes on a single street or cul-de-sac, for example.

What are the advantages of Neighbourhood Watch?

  • Local concerns can be addressed
  • Individual problems become a problem shared by all
  • Together, we can make our communities safer
  • Other NW Schemes, police and other local groups can be your partners
  • Get to know your neighbours, local police officers, and other service providers, thus fostering a greater sense of community.

You may even be eligible for a discount on home insurance if you are a member, as well as installing security measures on your property. For details on CCTV Swindon, visit https://apmfireandsecurity.com/cctv-installation/cctv-installation-swindon/
